The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) convened a committee to study direct sequencing of RNA modifications. Susan has been appointed because of her expertise and experience in the area of RNA biology. Specifically her study of our lab’s favorite RNA, the ribosomal RNA, which is highly modified.
The goal of this committee is to “assess the scientific and technological breakthroughs, workforce, and infrastructure needs to sequence, and ultimately understand the roles RNA modifications play in biological processes and disease.”
