Welcome Emily McFadden, Ph.D. to the Baserga Lab! Emily joins us as a postdoctoral associate after receiving her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in Dr. Amanda Hargrove’s lab at Duke University. While there, she focused on structure-function relatonships of long non-coding RNA in prostate cancer. She studied how secondary and tertiary structures of lncRNA was critical for their pro-cancerous processes via protein interactions and transcript stabilization. The long-term goal is to find structures within these RNAs critical for their role in cancer but could also pose potential therapeutic targets to prevent protein binding or transcript destabilization, thus reversing the cancer phenotype.
We are happy to have Emily join the Baserga Lab and are excited for her future work with us!
